Buc-ee’s is officially set to open its first North Carolina location after the Mebane, North Carolina, city council voted unanimously to permit the project and rezone a 32-acre site, reported the News&Observer. The 5-0 vote followed an eight-hour meeting.
The new Buc-ee’s will be located about an hour west of Raleigh, at Exit 152 off Interstates 40/85. According to Axios, the project plans call for a 75,400-square-foot travel center with 120 fuel stations and more than 20 electric vehicle charging stations.
The mega c-store is expected to bring more than 2,000 vehicle trips to the road per hour during its peak Saturday times, according to a traffic analysis done for the site, said Axios.
Buc-ee’s told Alamance County officials it expects to hire around 225 full-time employees at its store when the project is completed. Project documents suggest that the new Buc-ee’s could be completed in 2025, stated the The News&Observer.
