Circle K to Offer Cryptocurrency ATMs at US, Canadian Locations

A company that bills itself as "the world's largest and fastest growing Bitcoin
ATM network" says it has reached a deal with Circle K to install such ATMs in
company stores in the United States and Canada.

In an announcement this week, Bitcoin Depot said it has already installed 700
of the Bitcoin ATMs in 30 states, saying the convenience retailer "is the first
major retail chain to deploy Bitcoin ATMs within its stores."

The ATMs allow users to purchase cryptocurrencies by providing a crypto wallet
address and then making payment. In its announcement about the deal, Circle K
parent company Alimentation Couche-Tard said the ATMs give users "immediate
access to bitcoin and over 30 other cryptocurrencies." Bitcoin Depot says a
typical transaction can be completed in a few minutes.

Denny Tewell, senior vice president, global merchandise and procurement, at
Circle K said the deal is part of the company's efforts to enhance the customer
experience and provide for "a growing range of needs and occasions."

"Our partnership with Bitcoin Depot further builds on this commitment, giving
our brand an important, early presence in the fast-growing cryptocurrency
marketplace as a convenient destination where customers can buy Bitcoin," he
said.

Circle K is not the only convenience-store operator taking notice of
cryptocurrency. In May, Pennsylvania-based Sheetz Inc. announced it would allow
customers at its 622 stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West
Virginia, Ohio and Maryland to pay for gas and convenience items using
cryptocurrencies.

Last year, OPIS noted the presence of cryptocurrency ATM machines at fuel
industry trade shows.
