CITGO Offers Up to $3K in Pump Upgrades

In a "Black Friday"-style promotion designed to create a sense of urgency, CITGO Petroleum Corp. is paying up to $3,000 toward fuel dispenser upgrades to push compliance with the Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) technology standards for chip payment cards.

Under the program, branded gas stations can save $2,000-$3,000 per dispenser when purchasing a new dispenser that's EMV-compliant or $1,000 per dispenser on retrofit kits. The new equipment must be EMV- and NFC-capable.

But marketers have to "act fast" because the incentives are available only on the first 2,500 dispenser claim forms submitted, according to literature distributed at the recent CITGO regional roundtable meetings. Incentives will be issued for equipment invoiced and installed Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2018.

There also are other strings attached to the funds: The sites must be a Club CITGO Premium location -- not just a base-level participant in the Club CITGO loyalty app program. And the stations must have achieved a passing score on the previous four quarters of Trimark of Excellence Mystery Shop evaluations.

The following dispensers are eligible for incentives as long as they are ordered through the CITGO program: Wayne Ovation ($3,000), Wayne Helix ($3,000), Gilbarco 700 Series ($2,750) and Bennett Pacific Series ($2,000). Wayne and Gilbarco dispensers that are purchased outside this program qualify for only $2,000 in incentives, CITGO said.

The following dispensers are eligible for the $1,000 retrofit incentive: Wayne Vista 4, Ovation (all models), Helix (all models), Gilbarco 700 Series, and Gilbarco 500 Series. Diesel-only dispensers are ineligible.

Marketers complete a program agreement upon installation.
