CITGO to Offer In-Vehicle Fuel Transactions

CITGO Petroleum Corp. has entered into an agreement with Lear Corp.'s connected
car software company Xevo to allow consumers to purchase fuel at CITGO's 4,500
stations through an in-vehicle CITGO app, according to an announcement today.

The app, powered by the Xevo Market mobile commerce platform, enables consumers
to order and make transactions through an in-vehicle touchscreen. Club CITGO
members also will be able to link their loyalty club account to the app to earn
rewards on their purchases.

"Giving consumers the option to pay for fuel through their connected car
simplifies the purchasing process so our customers can get on their way," Kevin
Kinney, general manager of brand equity for CITGO, said in the announcement.

"Technology is ingrained into our everyday lives," said Kinney, "and we
understand that we must also make it available for our customers when they pull
up to the pump, so they keep coming back. We are very excited about these new
offerings and will continue working with partners like Xevo to improve the
overall customer experience at our branded locations."

As OPIS has reported, several major oil companies have launched similar
in-vehicle apps. For example, in 2018, Shell joined General Motors to accept
the automotive industry's first embedded, in-dash fuel payment and loyalty
program at Shell stations across the country. The program allowed customers
with eligible Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles to use Shell Pay &
Save within the GM Marketplace mobile platform to pay for fuel from their
vehicles' infotainment screen and to earn and redeem Fuel Rewards.
