Companies Incentivize Employees to Take COVID-19 Vaccine
Casey’s and Love’s Travel Stops offer bonuses to team members who aren’t throwing away their shot.

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Companies around the country are offering monetary incentives and extra time off to employees who take the COVID-19 vaccine, reports MarketWatch.com.
Convenience retailer Casey’s of Ankeny, Iowa, will provide a Wellness Bonus of $50 to team members who receive the full dosage of the vaccine.
“We are an essential, frontline organization, and our team members’ safety remains the top priority. That’s why, Casey’s is strongly recommending team members receive the COVID-19 vaccination when it’s available to them,” Darren Rebelez, president and CEO, Casey’s, said in a statement provided to NACS Daily.
“For the past year, we have battled through the challenges and complexities of the pandemic. I couldn’t be prouder of our team members’ resilience and continued commitment to Casey’s and our guests,” he added. “I know that brighter days are ahead because there is a vaccine becoming available to more people each day.”
Love’s Travel Stops, based in Oklahoma City, last month said it will pay its employees an extra $75 to voluntarily receive the COVID-19 vaccination. The announcement covers all employees from the entire Love's Family of Companies, which also includes Love's Truck Care and Speedco centers, alternative fuel provider Trillium, its commodity trading company Musket, the Gemini trucking fleet, its hotels and more.
“A big element of our culture is taking care of our team members so we're always thinking of new ways to do that,” said Love's President Shane Wharton. "As an essential business, our employees have worked tirelessly to keep America moving, and the vaccine, along with following safety protocols, offers the best protection from COVID-19. The incentive is another way of encouraging our employees to stay safe during the pandemic."
Elsewhere in the retail universe, Target stores are offering employees up to four hours of pay and a free Lyft ride each way to a vaccine site. The four hours cover both doses at two hours per dose. Target has a partnership with CVS Health, which will administer the vaccine.
Other major employers offering incentives to workers who take the vaccine include Kroger, Dollar General, Aldi, Tractor Supply, McDonald’s, Olive Garden and Trader Joe’s. Advocates for the vaccine say incentives to employees will help encourage adoption, resulting in more protection for employees and customers.
