Effective Immediately: New Medical Certificate Submission Rules for CDL and CLP Holders Now in Effect

EFFECTIVE TODAY: Changes to the medical certificate submission process for commercial driver license (CDL) holders and commercial learner permit (CLP) holders are now in effect. This change requires all medical certificates for commercial license holders to be submitted by a physician into the national registry through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

With this change, commercial motor vehicle drivers will no longer be able to submit their medical certificates at Texas driver license offices. Medical certificates will now ONLY be accepted through FMCSA’s national registry.

To learn more about the changes and how they impact you, visit Commercial Driver License | Department of Public Safety.
