Flint Hills Resources to begin restart of West Plant of its refinery in Corpus Christi
In a recent filing made by Flint Hills Resources with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the company said that on Tuesday it is beginning the restart process at the West Plant of its refinery in Corpus Christi.
Both the East and West plants of the refinery went through a controlled shutdown on Aug. 24 ahead of Hurricane Harvey's landfall as a Category 4 storm Friday night in Rockport, some 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi.
?The restart of operating units at the West Plant is part of "an effort to eventually restore fuel production," the report said. For safety reasons, the startup will be conducted in a sequenced manner, it added.
The "air startup event" dates are given as Aug. 29 to Sept. 6 in the filing, but they are estimates. "The duration of the actual event and these details may vary significantly from this estimate" the report added.
