New Motor Fuels Reporting Requirement
The following changes implement Senate Bill 1557, 85th Legislature (Regular Session). The first report affected by this legislation is the January 2018 report due on Feb. 26, 2018.
  • Texas Fuels Tax Report, Form 06-168, has a new line item 17, Gallons Subsequently Sold Tax-Free Prior to Export, and a new corresponding schedule, Form 06-190, Texas Schedule for Gallons Subsequently Sold Texas Tax-Free Prior to Export.
  • Texas Fuels Tax Report, Form 06-168, reflects the new reporting requirement for subsequent sales made in Texas prior to export. You may NOT summarize multiple transactions when completing the corresponding schedules for line items 15, 16, 17, 18 and 22.
  • All transactions in the schedules must be listed individually and must be reported for the return period.
  • The Bill of Lading (Shipping Document) field will accommodate up to 20 characters.
New Motor Fuels EDI Software
As of Feb. 11, 2018, a new version of the Texas Comptroller software will allow you to enter the newly required data. It's available on the EDI Homepage. All taxpayers using the Texas Comptroller software must upgrade to the Motor Fuels ETF Data Entry System – Version 6.0.
If you use third-party or proprietary software to create your EDI files, please upgrade your program to meet these new requirements.
