HOUSTON—Phillips 66 is celebrating its state-of-the-art headquarters fuel site, which opened in December and boosts 24 fueling spots and a 9,300-square-foot OnCue convenience store complete with a drive-thru window, gourmet coffee bar and a curated wine selection tended to by a sommelier.

Located near Phillips 66 headquarters in Houston’s Westchase District, the three-acre site “stands out as much for its first-class amenities as it does for its sheer size and design,” writes Bernardo Fallas of Phillips 66 corporate communications in a company blog. The site features seven grades of fuel, including nonethanol premium, E-85, E-15 and diesel.

“At Phillips 66 we understand that a tank of gas isn’t just a tank of gas,” said Sunny Lopez, manager, brand at Phillips 66. “We are a launch pad for our consumers who are looking for new experiences and excitement, even in the everyday things. With fast flow pumps, mobile pay capabilities and an upgraded convenience store, our new HQ fuel site marks our brand’s commitment to exceed consumer expectations.”

The c-store, which marks OnCue’s entry into the Texas market, includes indoor dining, a walk-in beer cave, craft beer section and a coffee bar with 12 blends of bean-to-cup coffee, espresso, frozen Nitro coffee and classic drip. The OnCue c-store serves made to order food, which customers can order via a touchscreen kiosk or can pre-order online.

“We’ve owned and operated a number of restaurants over the years and taste-tested our menu items so that we’re serving the best for customers,” Laura Aufleger, president of OnCue, told Westchase District news. For wine enthusiasts, the c-store stocks a wide selection of quality, affordable wines. “We have an in-house wine and beer expert who is a Level 3 Sommelier,” said Aufleger.

Founded in 1966, OnCue is a growing innovator in the Oklahoma and Texas convenience store market, with more than 75 locations and more than 1,400 employees. OnCue, based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was featured in the 2019 NACS Ideas 2 Go video series. OnCue has shared a video tour of the Phillips 66 Houston c-store plus a photo gallery.

Phillips 66 said the new location highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to reimage its U.S. sites and elevate its gasoline brands, which also include Conoco® and 76® in the U.S., JET® in the United Kingdom and JET® and Coop® in continental Europe.

Fallas writes that Phillips 66 has reimaged more than 5,000 branded U.S. sites, a move that has resulted in an average 3% volume uplift and increased sales inside the convenience store at the upgraded locations.

In the United Kingdom, Phillips 66 plans to build a first-class JET® site close to the Phillips 66 Humber Refinery to accommodate both truck and passenger-car customers and upgrade to a more modern convenience store. The location also will be the first U.K. JET® site with electric-vehicle chargers. Construction is slated to begin next month, with the opening pegged for late 2021.
