Presidential Disaster Declaration Clears Path for Overweight Waiver Permit

 August 25, 2020

The President’s approval of the Texas Disaster Declaration has cleared the way for the overweight waiver permits to be used for the transport of fuel in response to the impending landfall of Hurricane Laura.

Members will need to download a copy of the permit (no cost) from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicle website and a copy of the Presidential Approval.  Both of these items need to be kept with the truck and driver.

This allows for the transport of overweight non-divisible loads (such as petroleum) for the sole purpose of providing relief or supplies.   This permit will allow the transport of overweight goods from outside of the declared disaster counties into the declared disaster counties on either federal or state roadways.
