TULSA, Okla.—QuikTrip last week opened its 900th store, this time in Corsicana, Texas, southeast of downtown Dallas, and launched its first c-store in the Waco area, reports Tulsa World and the Waco Tribune-Herald.

Founded in 1958, Tulsa-based QuikTrip stores are now located in 12 states. The company plans to enter four additional states— Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado and Tennessee—in the next year.

“We are proud of the strategic progress QT has made over the course of our 63-year history,” Steve Wilson, the company’s marketing director, said in a statement. “To think back on this small grocery store that was started decades ago and look at where we are now, opening our 900th sophisticated convenience store, is truly humbling.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard to be at the forefront of the c-store industry. We hold a great amount of pride in our investment in our people and the communities we serve.”

QuikTrip’s Waco, Texas, Remote Travel Center opened last Thursday. The travel center design “features a larger designed lot and more spacious store than a traditional QT,” the company said in a press release. The forecourt includes 20 gas pumps and seven diesel bays for large trucks.

“We look forward to introducing our unique QuikTrip brand and culture to our new community,” QT division manager Amy Gulizia said in a press release. “The Travel Center allows us to create meaningful connections with our new local customers in Waco, but also serve travelers in this busy part of the country.”

The company’s “newest store model was created specifically for highly traveled areas of the country that are also within a reasonable proximity to a QT Distribution Center for access to fresh food,” QuikTrip said.

QuikTrip ranked No. 2 on the Fuel Market News 2020 Fuel Leaders list, a ranking of the top 50 fuel brands in the convenience retailing industry.
