Skimming Prevention Seminar Kicks-Off in Corpus Christi

Skimming Prevention Seminar Kicks-Off in Corpus Christi

On February 19, TFFA traveled to Corpus Christi to kick-off the first in a series of Skimming Prevention Seminars — a seminar that aims to educate and raise awareness about credit card skimming at fuel dispensers.

In attendance were detectives from local police departments, an agent from the U.S. Secret Service, convenience store operators, and other industry stakeholders.

A presentation from TFFA President/CEO Paul Hardin on legislative proposals from the state, paired with a deep dive into the inner workings of fuel dispensers and how criminals breach systems, created a unique hands-experience.

Wes Nance, Director of Service for Petroleum Solutions, Inc., used Gilbarco and Wayne dispenser cabinets (old and new) to demonstrate to law enforcement how the equipment operates and areas of vulnerability. The dispenser cabinets also provided retailers insight into what they can do to better protect their equipment against credit card skimming.
