TFFA Is Watching the LPR Conversation. Here’s Why It Matters to You.
You have seen the news clips. A robbery, a hit-and-run, a missing person — and an investigator who traces a vehicle in hours instead of days. License plate reader (LPR) technology is a growing piece of public safety in Texas, and it is heading into 2027 session territory.
For TFFA members, this matters in two places. The first is operational. Investigators using vehicle traces to clear incidents at or near our stores protects employees, customers, and the bottom line. The second is principle. Texas businesses have always invested in safety — cameras, lighting, training, partnerships with local law enforcement. Any new tool used in a community deserves the same discipline.
If you have experience — good, bad, or in between — with LPRs at or near your sites, we want to hear about it. Reach out to Desiree Castro, Director of Government Relations, at dcastro@tffa.com.
