Today, TFFA has been updated by state officials on the vaccine rollout plan in the state of Texas for essential business workers including convenience stores, grocery stores and petroleum distributors. The State of Texas is currently in Phase 1A of vaccine distribution for frontline medical workers. It is expected that the completion of Phase 1A will be mid to late January. This will be followed by Phase 1B which will be a second group of medical workers and school nurses.
Essential business workers, including employees for convenience stores, grocery stores and petroleum distributors are expected to be included in Phase 1C. The estimated timeline for distribution of Phase 1C is some time in the Spring, likely early-March through early-April.
BASIC PHASES:
Phase 1A: Estimated for Mid-December through Late-January
- (Tier 1): healthcare providers; long-term care staff working directly with vulnerable residents; direct care providers at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and state-supported living centers; EMS providers; home healthcare workers.
- (Tier 2): staff in outpatient care offices and other support staff; direct care staff in freestanding emergency medical care facilities and urgent care clinics; community pharmacy staff; public health and emergency response staff directly involved in administration of COVID testing and vaccinations; last responders; school nurses who provide health care to students and teachers.
Phase 1B: Estimated for Late-January through Late February
People 65 and older; people 16 and older with at least one specified chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19.
Phase 1C: Estimated for Early-March through Early-April
Workers involved in essential, frontline businesses including convenience stores, grocery stores and petroleum distributors.
