TFFA Working with Industry Partners to Secure Waiver on Hours of Service
Since last week, Scott Fisher, TFFA Vice President of Policy & Public Affairs, has been working around the clock in the State Operations Center (SOC) responding to fuel issues that have occurred as a result Harvey. As you are aware, TFFA has been instrumental in securing a number of different waivers, each following a specific processes before being granted. Thus far, the Federal and State governments have responded quickly to our requests.
Scott has been working to secure a regional Hours of Service (HOS) waiver for the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Colorado. Louisiana currently has an HOS waiver in place. This would allow all carriers a waiver for HOS compliance regardless of direct support or response to the current disaster.
PMAA has been assisting from D.C. every step of the way, and this morning, held an emergency conference call with key officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). While we have yet to receive a response one way or another this morning, DOT officials assured us they would review our request and give us a response as soon as possible.
We will notify the entire membership as soon as we have a decision on this latest waiver request.
