UPDATE: Tropical Storm Laura Threatens Upper Texas Gulf Coast
- May Strengthen to Category 3 Before Landfall
- Public Evacuations May Be Called

 August 24, 2020

UPDATED: 11 AM CDT

While Marco hasn’t quite made landfall, all eyes are moving to T.S. Laura as her forecasted track and potential for strengthening are raising concern. The State Operations Center is focused on the populations located from West of Beaumont to the Texas border including Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange and the other small communities in the area. There is a potential of evacuations being called for these communities.

Members should be in contact with any high priority infrastructure and first responders immediately to top them off. Additionally, retail locations along the potential evacuation routes need to be notified of the situation. The decision for evacuation will be made sometime on Tuesday. In the meantime, TFFA will be updating you as needed

We have included the TxDOT map for evacuation routes from the Beaumont area.

Please follow the National Hurricane Center for the latest information on tropical storms.
