Urgent: TFFA Urges Fuel Retailers to Prepare for Torrential Rainfall, Flooding as Tropical Storm Harvey Intensifies

Overnight, Harvey was upgraded to a Tropical Storm and is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 10 to 15 inches and isolated maximum amounts of 25 inches over the Texas coast through next Wednesday.  During the same time period Harvey is expected to produce total rain accumulations of three to nine inches along its outer radius including parts of south, central, and eastern Texas. Rainfall from Harvey may cause life-threatening flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is now forecasting a Category 3 hurricane when it makes landfall in Corpus Christi Friday evening.  This will likely mean a total rainfall amounts in excess of 20 inches within 24 hours.  TFFA urges members to check with their terminals if you haven’t heard from them on their operational plans.

If you have fuel stations or critical infrastructure accounts located in any of the following counties, please make these a priority.
  •          Aransas
  •          Calhoun
  •          Jackson
  •          Nueces
  •          San Patricio
  •          Victoria
TxDOT has NOT issued an evacuation order; however, they are in discussion with local officials to address the issue.

Any and all operational hurricane preparedness measures should be ready to immediate implementation.  TFFA is reaching via email and telephone to members in the counties located within the projected path of Tropical Storm Harvey.
