Yesway plans to triple its Allsup’s stores in Oklahoma, the company announced in a press release.
In addition to its five existing Allsup’s stores in the state, the retailer plans to grow its portfolio to 15 locations by the end of 2024. It recently opened two new stores, with two more locations set to open by the end of the first quarter and three approaching groundbreaking.
The new openings will be large-format store models at 6,277 square feet, open 24 hours per day, and will feature Allsup’s staple food items and private label snacks, a beer cave and Western Union service.
"We are looking to further expand in the state and are in search of additional sites," said Thomas Brown, chief real estate officer, Yesway. "In Oklahoma, we realized that many of its towns were underserved with a good convenience store operator that is focused on customer service and providing quality product with a strong value proposition; customers have long requested Allsup's in those communities, and we are excited to bring our new stores there."
The Thackerville, Oklahoma, location will be the company's first true interstate store, the company said, with the majority of the anticipated traffic coming off of Interstate 35, given its proximity to the WinStar World Casino.
The company is also expanding in Texas, where it recently opened a new Allsup's Express concept store—a 3,000 square foot bodega-style store open 24 hours per day. Located across from campus, the store caters to nearby University of North Texas students with energy drinks, bottled waters and teas, hot coffee, cold fountain sodas, F'Real shakes, tasty snacks, hot to-go and fresh meals, beer and wine and the World Famous Allsup's Burrito and Taco Sauce.
